State is now showing concern for asbestos affects resulting in mesothelioma
Health May 4th, 2008Cancer in any form is still a renal disease and so is mesothelioma a variety of cancer. Though the attacks are still rare compared to many other diseases including the traditional cancer, the State is gradually taking cognizance of the ill affects of asbestos in creating this form of cancer.
Laws are now being put in place limiting the maximum level of permissible asbestos radiations and many companies are facing the music for not being able to maintain the required safety levels.
There are several examples of such incidence taking place where the discovery of mesothelioma cancer among the local inhabitants has resulted in the industry or company responsible closing down. Recently, the Tonawanda Fire Station was closed down since it was felt that its basement was releasing asbestos. It can only be opened after the air filtering test is conducted and the Fire Station is cleared from possible asbestos pollution.
Growing concern of the administration has been reflected in the recent decision of the Government of Texas about removing the asbestos paints from the overpass on its highway, the US 75. In another incidence, the refurbishing plant in Buffalo in the state of New York had to invest nearly half a million dollars in removing the asbestos pipes and tires having asbestos fiber after a few positive mesothelioma diagnosis in the area.
